Gynaecology is a branch of medicine that concentrates on health of the female reproductive system.

Who & When should you seek help?

OBSTETRICS:

  • Women who wish to embark on a pregnancy with or without underlying medical conditions.
  • Women in their early pregnancy should have their pregnancy confirmed and exclude conditions such as ectopic or molar pregnancy. Mothers who are excessively vomiting or bleeding in pregnancy.
  • Pregnant mothers requiring antenatal care or in labour.
  • Mothers having postpartum issues related to the pregnancy or childbirth itself.
  • Females presenting with miscarriage.

GYNAECOLOGY:

  • Females with abnormal or excessive menstruation, unexplained vaginal bleeding, bleeding after sexual intercourse, distension of the lower abdomen, abnormal/excessive or foul smelling vaginal discharge, growth over vagina/ vulva, severe menstrual cramps.
  • Females with prolapse or urinary incontinence.
  • Couples with fertility concerns.
What are the treatments involved?

OBSTETRIC:

The Obstetrics and Gynaecology (O&G) Department provides prenatal counselling, routine antenatal care, detail scan for fetal anomalies, prenatal genetic screening tests, delivery services, postnatal care and contraception. The team also tackles any risk or complication that arises during pregnancy or childbirth. Other services provided would include addressing first trimester complications and surgical/ medical management of miscarriages.

GYNAECOLOGY:

Diagnosing, treating and preventing diseases related to female sexual health that encompass the uterus, fallopian tubes, ovaries, cervix, vagina and vulva. Pap smear screening and HPV vaccination is available with the aim of preventing cervical cancers. Treatment of female sexual problems varies depending on its disease, the cause and presentation. This could entail either medical management or surgical procedures.
