What is Urology? 

Urology is a speciality that deals with genitourinary problems affecting men and women .The areas covered under urology would be genitourinary cancers (kidney, bladder, prostate, penis and testis), prostate related diseases in men, urinary tract Infections (including sexually transmitted diseases), urinary incontinence, male infertility, erectile dysfunction, urology trauma, urethral strictures and urinary stones.

  1. Male infertility- screening and treatment. Working together with our infertility specialist we can provide solutions for couples trying to conceive. 
  2. Cancers in the prostate, ureter, bladder and male reproductive organs. Apart from screening, staging and treatment of the cancer, we also offer laparoscopic and reconstructive surgery
  3. Urethral Stricture in men- this presents as difficulty in voiding. We provide evaluation and reconstructive corrective treatment of urethral strictures.
  4. Calculi/Urinary Stones – One of the most common urological diseases, this usually presents itself as acute loin or abdominal pain or blood in the urine. We have the expertise to perform minimally invasive procedures (endourology) to remove the stone and provide advise on prevention of urinary stones.
  5. Incontinence – Incontinence is an embarrassing and distressing symptom for the patient and caregiver. We provide counselling and practical management plans for both the patient and care giver. Numerous methods are now available to treat this condition, including medication, bladder retraining, and surgical procedures if required. We one of the few centres that provide urodynamic study to evaluate incontinence.We also work closely with the neurologist and neurosurgeon to treat bladder problems associated with neurological disorders.
  6. Prostate diseases – Benign prostatic hyperplasia (BPH) is one of the most common conditions affecting elderly men. The treatment we offer include medication and minimally invasive procedures such as TURP (trans urethral resection of the prostate)
  7. Erectile dysfunction – This complex problem is usually multi-factorial. We help to understand and work together with our patients to find the best solution for them and their partner.
