Paediatric Ophthalmology and Strabismus Surgery

Paediatric Ophthalmology is an ophthalmology sub-speciality which deals with all ocular conditions related to children as well as managing adults with eye movements disorders such as squints and nystagmus.  Ophthalmologists have to undergo an extra 3 to 4 years of subspecialization after their basic Ophthalmology degree to be certified as Paediatric Ophthalmologists. Besides attending to children eye conditions and eye movement disorders, Paediatric Ophthalmologists are fully qualified to handle general ophthalmology cases.

Patients who require eye screening and any eye condition ranging from infection, trauma, blurring of vision, floaters, visual disturbances, abnormal eye movements, droopy eyelids, white pupil reflex and headache should see an Ophthalmologist. Should they have eye problems, patients are advised to see an Ophthalmologist as early as possible as most eye diseases if diagnosed early, have a good outcome.
