What is Endocrine & Diabetes?
Endocrinology is a branch of internal medicine dealing with the endocrine system, its diseases, and its specific secretions known as hormones. Diabetes Mellitus is the commonest endocrine disorder affecting our population. An endocrinologist can diagnose and treat hormone problems and the complications that arise from them.

What is the Endocrine System?
The human endocrine system consists of a number of glands releasing hormones that affects the actions of different organ systems in the body. When the hormones leave the glands, they enter the bloodstream and are transported to organs and tissues in the body. Hormones involves the integration of physiological, psychological or behavioral activities of metabolism, growth and development, tissue function, sleep, reproduction etc. Although they exist in very small amounts, they have a significant impact on bodily function and development.

The endocrine system involves a number of feedback mechanisms, so that often one hormone will control and interact with another secondary hormone. If there is too much of the certain hormone, it may provide negative feedback to that particular hormone, maintaining homeostasis. Hormone imbalances are the underlying reason for a wide range of medical conditions like Diabetes Mellitus , Thyroid disorders, Metabolic disorders, Adrenal disorders, Reproductive issues Etc.
